Mary (Bunar) Zamaitis 92, of Plymouth, died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Karen Zamaitis on October 4, 2021.
Born July 19, 1929 in Whitman, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Sophie (Divonis) Bunar, both Russian immigrants. She was raised in Whitman, and was a graduate of Whitman High School.
She married John Zamaitis and they moved to Brockton, MA where they raised their four children in the Lithuanian Village.
Prior to her retirement at the age of 72, she had worked as a bookkeeper in Brockton and Rockland.
After retiring, Mary traveled many times with her children back to her favorite destination of Oahu, Hawaii, where her husband had been stationed during World War II. She loved staying at the Hale Koa Hotel on beautiful Waikiki Beach, an oceanfront retreat for military members and families. She loved truly Hawaii and spending time with her children.
Mary is survived by her children; Jonalee Stonoinis and her husband Edward, and their children Andrew and Jennifer, John Zamaitis, Diane Darcy and her children Tania, Alicia, Sherry, Rusty and Katherine and Mark Zamaitis and his wife Karen Wong and their daughter Tammy.
