PORTLAND- Carole Anne Doughty, 63 of Portland, passed away on October 3, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on October 2, 1958 in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Fred Doughty and Nadine (Tracy) Ridlon. Carole attended elementary school in Portland. After a move to West Baldwin, she attended and graduated from Sacopee Valley Jr/Sr. High School in 1976. Carole went on to attend the University of Maine/Machias. She was employed with 7-Eleven for several years, moved on to the USPS for a short time and then landed her career job at LL Bean in Freeport where she has worked for the past 33 years.
Carole enjoyed life and had a light and kindness that touched everyone that she met. She never missed a Holiday, birthday or life event. She was the most thoughtful human and made the world a better place. A lover of all music but one of her favorite bands was The Grateful Dead! She caught the travel bug after taking her first trip out of New England, in 1986. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family and always made new friends wherever she visited!
Carole is survived by her brothers Kevin Doughty of Baldwin, Gilbert Doughty & wife Laurie Grant of Portland, sister-in-law Carol Doughty of Porter, her nephews Aaron Doughty of Hollis, Sean Doughty & Stephen Dotterweich of Porter, as well as many loving cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Carole is predeceased by her step-father, Carl B. Ridlon.
