She worked for many years at New Bedford Institution For Savings as a teller and retired from the Accounting Department. She loved spending time with her family and absolutely loved animals.

Barbara built and established Stonetree Acres in Marion. She bred and raised Morgan horses and showed them with her granddaughters. She loved dogs and enjoyed spending time walking her black lab, Greta, and took in dogs and cats from the shelter as well.

Barbara had a green thumb and frequently could be found tending to her garden growing organic vegetables. She enjoyed sewing and would make various clothes, quilts and Halloween costumes for her granddaughters. She was feisty yet caring. She was happiest at home cooking and homemaking.

She is survived by her sons, David Milton DeCosta and his wife Beth of Centerville, William Joseph DeCosta of Brockton, Daniel DeCosta and Michael DeCosta of New Bedford and Matthew DeCosta of Delaware; three grandchildren, Amy Jones and her husband Sean of Centerville, Laura Enos of Mattapoisett, and Anne Bousquet of Marion; 5 great grandchildren Megan Jones, Dylan Jones, Caleb Bousquet, Emily Bousquet and Emma Enos; as well as many nieces and nephews.
