Obituary

Barbara "Alice" Riddell, 97, a lifelong resident of Whitman, Mass, passed peacefully on October 1, 2021 at the Webster Park Rehabilitation.

She was born in Whitman, Mass in 1924, the daughter of the late Lester W. Taylor and Laura E. Perkins, and the stepdaughter of the late Harold Douglas.

She worked for and retired from USM, she was also a registrar for the towns of Rockland and Whitman, and continued to work as a Whitman town registrar until her death. She was involved in her community events, and was referred to fondly as "The Mayor of Whitman" by her daughter Nancie.

She devoted her life to her family and dearest friends, and always had a smile to brighten anyone's day. She was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed the sun and beach, crossword puzzles with her longtime friend Cheryl Lopes, BINGO, and her weekly dinners with her friend Dawn Varley.

She was the loving wife of the late John J. Riddell, sister of the late Malcom Taylor, and survived by her sister Edna Charlton of Vermont, her daughter Nancie Hill Amaral of Largo Florida, her grandchildren Michael Koslowsky and Jennifer Koslowsky of East Taunton, Mark Koslowsky of East Bridgewater, her greatgrandchildren Kayla and Connor Williams of Quincy, Kelly Koslowsky of Taunton, Amanda Koslowsky of Brockton, Kevin Koslowsky of Taunton, and her nieces and nephews Debbie and Mike Larocque of Vermont, Bonnie and Adrian Nadeau of Vermont, and Donna, Bobby and the late David Charlton of Vermont.

For relatives and friends, visiting hours will be held Thursday October 7th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Disabled Veterans.
