Gilberto Moniz Machado, 87, of New Bedford passed away Sunday October 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. He was the husband of the late Maria Natalia (Correia) Machado.
Born in Sao Miguel, Açores, the son of the late Manuel Moniz Machado and Maria Conceicao Moniz Machado, he resided in New Bedford since 1985.
Gilberto was a very giving person, who always made sure his family and friends had enough to eat and drink.
He is survived by his children, Joao Paulo Moniz, Rui Moniz, Maria Manuela Moniz, Connie Brum, and Grace Pinhancos; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 8-10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, prior to the Mass.
