John J. “Joe” Haughton, Jr.
Retired Compliance Director for Genuity Corporation


TEWKSBURY: John J. “Joe” Haughton, Jr. age 76, of Port St. Lucie, FL and Methuen, MA, formerly of Tewksbury, passed away at the Lawrence General Hospital on Thursday, September 30, 2021.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Nancy E. (Donahue) Haughton.

Born in Shirley on December 4, 1944, he was the son of the late John J. Haughton and the late Marie A. (LeColst) Haughton.

Joe graduated from Northampton, MA High School and Salem State University.

In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of numerous decorations for his active-duty service including the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Purple Heart, and in 1968 was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as Compliance Director by the Genuity Corporation.

He enjoyed fishing, golf, spending the winter months in Florida and summer months on Cape Cod. In addition, he was a loyal Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by three sons, Patrick R. Haughton and his wife Kelly of Londonderry, NH, Christopher J. Haughton and his wife Juliana of Bristol, RI and David E. Haughton and his wife Megan of Andover: six grandchildren, Nicholas K., Katelyn M., Liam P., Alexander J., Riley E. and Taylor M. Haughton: his sister, Kathleen Meneades of Lynn: his brother-in-law, Edward Donahue of Vero Beach, FL. He also leaves several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Joe was the brother of the late Peter and Robert Haughton.

Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 8, from 9-11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Joe’s ashes will be placed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date. At the request of the family, please Omit Flowers. Donations in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
