Worcester: Helen Alexander died after a period of declining health on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. Born in Worcester on November 9, 1925, one of two daughters of George and Margaret Alexander, Helen was a loving sister of Alice, who predeceased her in 1990.
She leaves many relatives and friends including first cousins Richard Arakelian and his wife Betsy of Spencer and Marcia Arakelian of Paxton.
Helen's family would like to acknowledge and thank all individuals who provided her with extraordinary care and compassion over the years, especially Fr. Aved Terzian whose visits and dedication comforted her.
Helen was educated in Worcester public schools. Her career spanned many years at US Envelope and Worcester National Envelope, where she served as an Administrative Manager. She was well known for her quick wit and her ability to make people laugh. She loved to travel, visited and explored many destinations around the globe. She was an avid reader and had an excellent memory and loved many genres of music.
As a lifelong member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, she chose to serve the community in many capacities. She was very proud of her Armenian heritage. Her spirit of volunteerism is evident by her efforts over the years at the Ecotarium, Worcester Women's Club, Worcester Art Museum and at the Worcester Election Polls.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Masks and all covid protocols are required. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Nordgren Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
