James Lee "Jim" Gwaltney, 87, of Anderson died September 27, 2021 at Community Hospital after complications from a fall.
Jim was born in Anderson, the son of Prince H. and Thelma (Neese) Gwaltney.
Jim graduated from Anderson High School 1953. Jim served in the United States Army in the Korea from 1955-1957.
Jim was a grinder operator for Delco Remy division of General Motors for 41 years before retiring in 1993. Jim was a member of Korean War Veterans; Central Indiana Old Car Club; Meadowbrook MAFIA (Retired) and the Western Film Club at Ball State University.
Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. An example of a very good Christian man to all that knew him. Jim always had a smile on his face and did not know a stranger, especially if you had an old car or flew an airplane.
Survivors include his wife, Laura (Shaul) Gwaltney, whom he married on September 20, 1959 in Anderson; three sons, Brian (Sabine) Gwaltney, Mark (Vicki) Gwaltney and Michael Gwaltney; granddaughter, Hannah Bowen all of Anderson; sister, Nancy Ellen Bales of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law, Vivian Gwaltney and Ginny Gwaltney; many nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law, Lois Sinatra.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Kurtis Gwaltney; brothers, William, Don and David Gwaltney; sister, Marilyn Mc Kelvey and an infant daughter, Suzanne Gwaltney.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Tom Wiles of Fall Creek Christian Church officiating. Dress is casual. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery with Military graveside rites by the Daleville American Legion.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service at noon on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Fall Creek Christian Church or Madison County Historical Society.
