Mariano Moniz, 67, of Rockland, MA died April 11, 2006 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Mariano and Mary (Mello) Moniz, he lived in New Bedford most of his life before moving to Rockland several years ago.
He was formerly employed as a custodian with the New Bedford Public School System for many years until his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda M. Moniz, and her fiancé Kevin Pelletier, of Fall River; a son, Christopher M. Moniz, and his wife Rebecca, of Dartmouth; a brother, Daniel Moniz of Stamford, CT; 2 sisters, Hilda Boucher of New Bedford and Evelyn Roza of Fairhaven; 3 grandchildren, Jillian Leigh, Christopher John and Brandon Matthew; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Manuel Moniz, Hilda DeMello, Agnes Lima, Donald Moniz, George Moniz, Irene Lewis and Mary Silveira.
His Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
