Obituary


Laurent B. Jalbert, Jr. passed away on September 25, 2021. He was born in Manchester, NH to Laurent B. Jalbert, Sr. and Lucille (Richard) Jalbert on December 7, 1940. He was a graduate of St. Anselm's College, Goffstown, NH with a degree in biology. He taught science and math at a boys' boarding school in NH for a few years. Later in life he received a Master's of Education degree from the University of Vermont, all while working full-time at Sears Roebuck & Co., where he retired after more than 30 years. He became a District Business Manager for Sears and traveled throughout VT, NH, MA, and ME. He was very well-respected and employees commented on how fair a person he was. After retiring from management, he opened a Sears Dealer Store in St. Albans, VT, which he sold after a few years.

He and his wife Annette (Poudrier) Jalbert renovated many homes together. He was a master of many trades -- carpentry, electrical and plumbing.

He and Annette were married on June 12, 1965 at Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, NH. They were married over 57 years and had two sons:
Laurent B. Jalbert III and Pierre Jalbert. Larry III graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont. He had several jobs prior to opening up his own business in Manhattan NYC 8 1/2 years ago and has several employees working for him at his company: NE Technology Partners, Inc.
Pierre received his undergraduate degree at Oberlin College in Ohio and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He studied under the composer, George Crumb. He is a Professor of Composition and Music Theory at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

He had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Church, Lowell, Vermont, where they made their home for 27 years before buying retirement places in Sarasota, Florida and Hampton, NH.

He was very involved with the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree member of Assembly 1157 of Newport, VT. He served as Grand Knight for 10 years out of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, VT. He also served as Financial Officer and Treasurer for several years.

The service will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 207 Hemlock Street, Manchester, NH. The wake will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge Street, prior to the 11:00 a.m. Mass to be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 207 Hemlock Street. After the Mass, the congregants will go to Mt. Calvary Cemetery for a brief burial service.
