Obituary

LIMINGTON- Kenny David Kendrick, 51, of Limington, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Portland, Maine on September 2, 1970, a son of George and Naomi (Parker) Kendrick of Limington, Maine. The baby of the family, he was born into a loving home with two brothers and three sisters who will never stop being proud of all that he became.
After graduating from Bonny Eagle High School, class of 1988, Kenny and his cousin Tommy Kendrick volunteered to serve their country and joined the military under the buddy program, enlisting in the US Army where they were stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During Kenny’s 9 years of service in the 133 Division Core of Engineers his active duty brought him to Guatemala, where he constructed roads, bridges, and schools to improve the quality of life of the citizens. He was awarded the following decorations: Expert Qualifications Rifle M16, Sharpshooter, and Hand Grenade Army Service Ribbon.
Kenny worked various jobs, and was good at everything he attempted. He picked up all skills with ease and was eager to be continuously learning; from passionately gaming with family and friends, to mastering the drums then going on to teach himself the harmonica and guitar, culminating in helping to build the houses of all of his siblings. He had an innate skill working with wood and building as a result of his curious, creative and ingenious nature. Those fortunate to know him would witness flashes of brilliance and realization wash across his face as he dreamed up a new way of doing something or a marvel thought to add to the lively conversations he evoked. He was a sort of genius; you could see the gears turning as he quietly tackled problems, his brow furrowing, until he proposed a novel idea you would have never thought of yourself. He took this level of care and commitment to every question posed to him. Because of his kindness, no problem of yours was ever too insignificant. His cleverness enriched the companies of: Sylvania, Bic Built Log Homes, Gorham Auto Salvage, and Boise Cascade for the last 16 years as a Freight Distribution/Shipping Manager, where he was known as a man trusted and capable of wearing many hats.
Kenny will always be remembered for his sense of humor and wit, deep intellectual conversations, and willingness to take charge – all of which could show up in a single interaction, making him truly delightful company. Most of all, Kenny will be remembered for his love and devotion to his children, Jeremia and Eden; his profound sense of need to care for others; and his selflessness, which was deeply felt by his family, friends, and his Boise family. Kenny had a way of knowing what people needed, of reading them, and he was willing to be whatever that was – a comedic relief, a dedicated listener, a problem-solver, but always a steadfast friend. Friends and family always knew that when they were in Kenny’s thoughts, they had someone who put them first.
In addition to his parents, Kenny leaves behind his son, Jeremia, and daughter, Eden; his brothers: Kevin Kendrick and wife Judy, and Kurt Kendrick; his sisters: Kecia Bickford and husband James, Darlene Erickson and husband Tony, all of Limington, and Karen Barstow of Freeport; as well as many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him very much and always knew Kenny as “the crazy but cool uncle.”
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 9th at 12:00 pm at the Highland Cemetery located on Church Hill Road, Buxton, Maine. Please join us for a celebration of Kenny’s life following the service at 2:00 pm at The River, 1 Line Drive, Limington
