Frank J. Mellen, 82, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Janie "Jane" Mellen.
Mr. Mellen was born in Fall River, son of the late Thomas J. and Flora (Brule) Mellen and had been a resident of Westport since 1978. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated his own textile business. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport. Mr. Mellen enjoyed gambling, gardening, cutting wood and traveling. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors along with his wife include his 3 daughters: Sabre Ibrahim of Acushnet, Lori Camara of Westport and Heather Roy-Greenwood of Fairhaven; 3 brothers: William Mellen, Fred Mellen and Paul Mellen; 3 sisters: Jean Bernier, Marion Laurendeau and Marie Thompson; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Thomas, Normand, James and Roger Mellen.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be private.
