John V. Tsiramanes, 84, of Worcester passed away Friday, September 24th in Milford Regional Hospital. The Tsiramanes Family are grateful for the amazing care received from Milford's doctors, nurses and aids. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Stavroula (Tsapaliaris) Tsiramanes and daughters Effie Markestad with husband, Ole of London, England, Fotini Tsiramanes of WestHampton Beach, NY, son, Billy Tsiramanes with wife, Marlo; grandchildren John, Billion, Alexis, Michaela and Melina. Five brothers, Panagiotis Tsiramanes of Argos, Greece, Theodore Tsiramanes of Worcester, Constantinos Tsiramanes and his wife, Matina of Athens, Petros Tsiramanes and his wife, Maria of Los Angeles and Nicholas Tsiramanes and his wife, Maria of Nemea; his two sisters, Maria Floros of Athens and Katina Vasilopoulos and her husband, John of Sacramento, CA.
John was born in Argos, Greece to Vasilios and Efrosini (Bourderes) Tsiramanes. Immigrated with his wife and 3 children to Worcester in 1969. John graduated from The National (Metsovian) Technical University of Athens and served in the Hellenic Air Force as an aircraft technician. John owned and operated Elm Park Auto for over 35 years, with his son and grandson before retiring. John's favorite hobby was cars (especially restoring MGs and TR6s with his long time friend Tommy). Even after retiring, John tinkered at Elm Park Auto assisting his son and grandson while interacting with all of his longtime customers. John split time in Ikaria Greece where he gardened, beached, hiked and enjoyed all his family in the USA and Greece, especially his grandchildren. John was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Agios Christos Church in Ikaria, Greece.
Service will be held on Thursday, September 30th with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation for John will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service in the Cathedral on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
