WORCESTER__ Olga Ona Kersis, 93, of Worcester died on Friday, September 24, 2021. She was born in Worcester the only child of Anthony J. and Anna M. (Anusauskas) Kersis.
She is survived by many cousins, George Anusauskas and his wife Barbara, Stephen Walinsky husband of Eleanor (deceased), Lynne Jalbert and her husband Michael, Mark Walinsky and his wife Margaret, George Anusauskas Jr. and his wife Catherine, Mary Beth Hughes and her husband Stephen, and Katherine Anusauskas. She also leaves many second and third cousins who loved and cherished her kindness and warm heart. She was predeceased by a special cousin, Susie Anusauskas. She leaves many good friends of whom she regarded Virginia Keith as exceptional. Everyone who knew or ever met Olga thought that she was the kindest, most loving person, and immediately felt the same attachment to her.
She graduated from the former Commerce High School and worked at the Lawrence R. McCoy Company, retiring after forty-one years of employment as Executive Secretary to the President. She continued to share her secretarial skills in the office of St. Casimir’s Church, as well as, many organizations with whom she volunteered.
Olga was a lifelong parishioner of the former St. Casimir Church and later St. John Church. She was the organist and choir director for St. Casimir’s church for many years, the accompanying pianist for the Lithuanian Men’s Group at Maironis Park, finally participating in the Lithuanian choir at St. John’s. Proud of her faith and her Lithuanian heritage, she was a Eucharistic Minister at church, a 4th Degree Knight of Lithuania, Council 26, and a member of the Lithuanian (Maironis) Charitable Society. She served on the Parish Council at St. Casimir’s Church, was a member of Our Lady of Providence Guild, a supporter of Pernet Family Health Service and in her teen years was a Sodality officer and member. She was always active even into her later years, enjoying programs at the Senior Center, participating in WISE programs at Worcester State College, visiting local libraries and bringing Holy Communion to homebound friends.
A funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, October 4, 2021, with a Mass in St. John Church, 44 Temple Street. Visitation in the church will be Monday, from 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. at which the Knights of Lithuania ritual will be recited. Olga will be buried with her parents and many of her beloved family members in St. John Cemetery, Worcester.
