Sharon Jean Long, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, September 24, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, October 2, 2021, at CrossPointe Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Justin McCrimmon officiating. Due to COVID-19, all guests and attendees are requested to wear appropriate medical grade facemasks and to maintain social distancing at all times.
Mrs. Long was born October 13, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Frank & Virginia LaPlante Griffin. She was a Parapro for the Irwin County Board of Education. Mrs. Long and her husband owned and operated E & S Express, “train on wheels”. She loved Disney and was a member of CrossPointe Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl “Buddy” Long of Fitzgerald; five children: Kevin Earl Long of Goshen, Indiana, Becky Lou Shavers of Phoenix City, Alabama, Ronnie Cochran of Valparaiso, Indiana, Jamie Jordan of Columbus and Tina Williams of Ocilla; 10 grandchildren; one special buddy #2; five siblings: Carol Wonsowicz, Donna Dickman, Mary Harrick, Debbie Konopacki and Tom Griffin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Larry Griffin and Roger Griffin.
