Jordanis Voyiatzis, 80, of Worcester, died September 8th is Serres, Greece while on vacation. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleni (Papadopoulos) Voyiatzis; his two sons, Simon Voyiatzis and his partner, Anthony Depasquale of Paxton and Arthur Voyiatzis of Worcester; his brother Theodosios "Teddy" Voyatzis and his wife, Georgia of Holden and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Dimitrios "Jimmy" Voyiatzis in 2013 and his brothers, John, Alex and George Voyiatzis.
He was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece, the son of Dimitrios and Hrisanthi (Alexathis) Voyiatzis and came with his family to Worcester in 1972. Mr. Voyatizis had served in the Greek Air Force. He had owned and operated several area restaurants with his sons for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Cultural Center Hrisohorafiton Alexander the Great. Mr. Voyatzis enjoyed listening to Greek music, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
His funeral is Tuesday, September 28th with his service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 o'clock until the time of the service in the Cathedral. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements.
