WORCESTER - Mercedes Ocasio, age 70, passed away at home after an illness on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Her husband of 49 years, Hector Manuel Encarnacion, died in 2015.
She leaves her five daughters, Ivelisse Encarnacion, Mariam Encarnacion, Katherine Encarnacion, Lorelle Diaz and Mercy Encarnacion; two sisters, Rosa Maria Ocasio and Carmen Ocasio; a brother, David Ocasio; 10 grandchildren, Isander, Joshua, Emmanuel, Diana, Eduardo, Jeffrey, Hilario, Josiah, Nemesis and Jamilexs; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Concepcion Ocasio and Luz Maria Ocasio and two brothers, Manuel Ocasio and Julio Ocasio, predeceased her.
Born in CanĂ³vanas, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Juana (Morales) Rivera and Juan Ocasio, and has lived in Worcester since 1982. A true servant of God, she was a member of La Iglesia de Dios, Inc., Pastor Emil Rodriguez, for over 35 years serving as its treasurer, a teacher of Sunday School and was a deacon. Family was the most important part of her life.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 27, in the Kelly Funeral Home. 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. www.kellyfuneralhome.com
