Salvatore J. Fucile, Jr., age 84, of Dracut passed away on Sunday, September 12th, at Lawrence General Hospital. Born and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Salvatore J. and Marie (Giorgio) Fucile. Salvatore was employed by the Highway Department for the City of Somerville, and also worked for many years at Taxi-Tops, moving to Dracut nine years ago. In his spare time Salvatore loved playing cards. He was also a lover of all animals, and once won a pet monkey named “Pepe” in a card game.
Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Laurel (Grant) Fucile, and the devoted father of Salvatore “Tore” J. Fucile, III and his wife Maureen, Laurie A. Smillie, John P. Fucile and his wife Lorri, Eleanor Heitz, Marie Voulgaris and her husband Peter, Sheila M. Fucile, and Allen A. Fucile and his wife Sabrina. He was the loving “Bubba” of 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Michael Fucile and his wife Sarina, and the late Domenic Fucile and Frances Ann DiPlatzi, and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford on Thursday, September 23rd. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may gather inside the front gate of the cemetery by 11 AM to join a procession to the grave.
