John F. Stallings, 91, of New Bedford died September 16, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Betty Ann (Rogers) Stallings.
Born in Norfolk, VA, son of the late Lewis and Lydia (Custis) Stallings, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Fairhaven Congregation.
Mr. Stallings was formerly employed as a letter carrier with the United Postal Service retiring as supervisor in the post office. He later was employed as a bus driver with SERTA for 15 years until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Jeffrey Rogers of New Bedford, David Ramos and his wife Dawn of Westport and Aaron Stallings and his partner Darin Bond of Boston; 7 daughters, Leslie Ferreira of St. Petersburg, FL, Elaine Valorie Almeida of Boston, Carleen Cordwell of Marthas Vineyard, Sheree Burns and her husband Benjamin of New Bedford, Terry Marks and her fiancé Michael Williams of Clermont, FL, Tracy Elder and her husband Randall of Cincinnati, OH and Rachel White and her husband Paul of Portsmouth, RI; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Kevin Stallings, John Stallings, Jr., Ann Valera and Allison Stallings, and the brother of the late Lewis Stallings, Ray Stallings and Virginia Stallings.
His private arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
