Robert J. Kirrane, age 73, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his adoring family on Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Nancy L. (Cohan) Kirrane.
Born in Boston, MA on April 21, 1948, he was a loving son of the late William J. and Shirley G. (Jennings) Kirrane.
Bob grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston and was a1966 graduate of Hyde park High School. He had made his home in Norton for the past forty-six years, was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and enjoyed playing golf.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Kirrane had worked for the telephone company for forty-two years. He began his career as a Lineman and retired as a Construction Manager when the company operated under the name of Verizon.
Bob’s greatest gift in life was his treasured family, whom he loved dearly. While his children were growing up, he coached their sporting events and as a grandfather was the number one supporter of his grandchildren’s sporting activities.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Matthew Kirrane, Sr. and his wife Melissa of Norton, Jennifer Carter and her husband Dewey of Norton, Maura Lachance and her husband Chris of Norton and Ryan Kirrane and his companion Justine Miller of North Attleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Matthew, Jr., William, Hailey, Chloe, Molly, Keegan and Kenzie. He was the dear brother of William Kirrane and his wife Jeanne of California, his twin brother Thomas Kirrane and his wife Valerie of Foxboro and Michael Kirrane and his wife Karen of New Hampshire. He was the special brother-in-law of Cheryl Rogers and her husband Thomas of Acton and is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 23rd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 24th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Robert’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
