Elizabeth A. (Capotosto) Sarcia, of Woburn, formerly many years of Burlington and West Dennis, passed away September 13, 2021. She was 90 years of age. "Alice" or "Betty" as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Sarcia who passed away September 15, 2021. She was the devoted mother of Leslie J. Ryan of Chicopee and the late Carol A. Sarcia. She was the loving grandmother of Megan A. Ryan of Wakefield, Michelle E. Ryan of Chicopee, Ma. and cherished sister of Dolores Capotosto of Medford. Born in Cambridge, Betty was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Susie (Lampassi) Capotosto. Betty is further survived by many dear friends, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Betty loved her summer home in West Dennis and looked forward to spending summers there. She knew all the beaches and shops of Cape Cod. She loved Opera and took bus tours to the Metropolitan Opera in NYC for many years with friends and family introducing them to opera. Betty also loved cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved doing things with her daughter and granddaughters, Megan and Michelle. She was a member of the Billerica, Burlington and Woburn Ladies Sons of Italy Lodges. Also, a member of the Italia Unita, Pirandello and Dante Alighieri Italian Cultural Organizations. She was so proud of her Italian heritage that she organized for the Sons of Italy, Italian language classes and presented Italian culture lectures. The Sons of Italy Grand Lodge of MA presented her with the Golden Lion Award for all her cultural efforts. Betty was also a member of the Scarlet O'Hatters Red Hat Chapter where she organized many trips for the red hat ladies. Her motto was to "keep busy."
A funeral service for Betty and her husband, Anthony, will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, September 23rd, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in their memories to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226
