Franklin N. Lovell, 73, of Manchester, passed away with his devoted wife, Suszanne, by his side on September 15, 2021. He was born February 25, 1948 in Harford, CT to Rodney Lovell, Sr., and Helen (Livingston) Lovell. Frank grew up in Cornish, NH and graduated from Stevens High School, Class of 1967. He earned his Associates in Automotive Technology from the NH Vocational Institute in 1969.
In the summer of 1969, Frank waited patiently for Susanne to agree to a date night, and they were married in October 1969. They enjoyed sneaking into the drive-ins, dune buggy rides, and a bowling league before they dedicated themselves to raising their two children. He spent his life repairing vehicles and driving all types of trucks; and oh, did he love to talk about work. Frank also enjoyed playing cribbage.
Our Dad was the Internet and GPS before they existed. We could “google” him on how to fix anything. He was happy to teach us or lend a hand on any project. Boy, we changed a lot of mufflers together. Dad loved his street maps and giving driving directions, especially to our Mom. So many memories, playing in the dirt & trucks at his garages to give Mom a break, gently combing tangled curly hair, grilling during a hurricane, shoveling that huge driveway, and the “guys only” boat rides. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities over the years, dance recitals, soccer, and most recently basketball and baseball. Thank goodness he was willing to put the worms on the fishing poles for them on vacation! Dad, most of all thank you for teaching us a good work ethic and how to be strong and independent. We will never forget your love for rare steak and absolute disdain for chocolate and peanut butter.
We are happy that Frank got wear his straw hat with pride one final time on vacation with family this year. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, son Scott, daughter Shari, and three grandchildren, Danielle, Steven, and Matthew. He is predeceased by his parents, and two brothers Rodney and Byron Lovell.
Services will be held privately at the request of the family.
