Kenneth Clyde Offley, Sr., 89, of New Bedford passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday September 15, 2021. He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Lopes) Offley, to whom he was married for 55 years until her passing.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Hilda (Offley) Williams and Antone Andrade, he graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School and lived in New Bedford all his life.
Kenneth was a New Bedford Police Officer and New Bedford Narcotics Detective, as well as a member of the Massachusetts Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association in his prime. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Bermuda. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. He was a past president of the Cape Verdean Ultramarine Band Club.
He was best known as "KCO" with a passion for family, friends, and community. Kenneth was loved by all for his welcoming spirit, gentleness, and kindness. His greatest pride, passion and legacy was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth C. Offley Jr. and his wife Cindy; four granddaughters, Shakira Offley, whom he raised, Kiara Offley, Kelynn Offley, and Kenzie Offley; four great-grandchildren, Navahni, Jaliyah, Treyana and Malachi Perry; four brothers, Robert Andrade Sr., Joseph Amado, Barry Williams, Ronald Williams; two sisters, Louise Lammers and Marsha Carpenter.
He was the father of the late Leslie E. Offley, and brother of the late George Andrade, Irving Williams and Jean Craighead.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 20, 2021 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Visitation will be on Monday morning from 8:30-10:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
