Michael R. Sullivan
American Airlines Airport Operations Crew Member
TEWKSBURY: Michael R. Sullivan, age 64, of Manchester, NH, and a member of a well-known Tewksbury family, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Michael was the beloved husband of Jean C. (Hudson) Sullivan, with whom he celebrated 37 years of marriage on November 30, 2020.
Born in Lowell on April 20, 1957, he was the son of the late John F. Sullivan, a former Tewksbury Police Chief, and the late Jeannette B. (Martin) Sullivan.
Michael was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury Public Schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1976.
Michael worked in the Airline Industry for over 20 years, most recently at Logan International Airport in Boston, where he was a member of the American Airlines Airport Operations Crew.
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed the companionship of his dogs “Lulu” and “Gracie”, gardening, hosting family gatherings, cooking, and was affectionately referred to as the “Grill Master” by his wife and family.
In addition to his beloved wife Jean, family members include children, Charles C. Durfee and his wife Jessica, and Christopher T. Durfee, all of Stoneham, Lynn C. Dupre of Henderson, NV, and Lori J. Gookin and her husband Geoffrey of Bedford, NH; grandchildren, Alana C. Durfee of Stoneham, Katrina N. Daniels of Goffstown, NH, Madison S. and Quinn E. Gookin both of Bedford, NH; siblings Barbara Field and her husband John (Jack) of Cape Coral, FL, John (Jack) Sullivan, Jr. and his wife Jane of Andover, Dorothy Flanagan and her husband William (Bill) of Dracut, Brian Sullivan and his wife Barbara of Lowell, Harold (Harvey) Sullivan and his wife Michele of Tewksbury, Mary Collins and her husband Shawn of Goffstown, NH, William (Bill) Sullivan-Congdon and his husband Scott of Merrimack, NH, Kenneth Sullivan and his wife Karen of Methuen, Jeanne Rosberg and her husband Walter (Wally) of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Maureen Smith and her husband Gordon (Gordy) of Epping, NH, Nancy and John O’Connor of Tewksbury and Neil Sullivan of Boston; his sister-in-law, Kathy Sullivan of Tewksbury, wife of his late brother, Kevin M. Sullivan. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
Friends are invited to meet at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24th, at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury for his Memorial Funeral Mass. Interment of Michael’s ashes will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody. There are No Calling Hours. At the request of the family, kindly Omit Flowers.
