DUDLEY – Allison G. (Birmingham) Gevry, 92, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, September 12, 2021 after an illness. Her husband of 68 years, Bernard J. Gevry, died in 2018.
She leaves a daughter, Marilyn Alston and her husband Philip of Webster; a son, Bernard R. “Skip” Gevry and his wife Susan of Dudley; 4 grandchildren; a great grandson; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Coles.
Allison was also blessed with 2 step daughters, Pamela C. Bachand and her husband James of Webster, and Mary L. Steger and her husband Helmut of Friendship, Maine; 4 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; and 7 step great-great-grandchildren.
She was born on October 25, 1928 in Webster, a daughter of Edward and Grace (Rothwell) Birmingham. Allison graduated from Bartlett High School in 1946 where she was the captain of the varsity basketball team. She also played semi-pro basketball and softball after high school. She lived in Dudley since 1967.
Allison was a homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper at local businesses. Her life centered on family. She was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Church and enjoyed family gatherings, traveling and watching sports, especially those that involved Barrett, Tyler, Kaitlin and Samantha.
A memorial Mass for Allison and Bernard will be held on Saturday October 16 at 11:00am in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road, Dudley. (Please meet at the church.) Masks should be worn. Burial will be private.
