Thomas J. “Joe” Egan, 75 years of Brockton died Monday morning at the Brockton Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Nora M. (Mahoney) Egan. He was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School, class of 1948 and Bentley College. He served stateside in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was an accountant and financial advisor before retiring in 1994 from Deloitte & Touche, LLP in Boston. In his retirement he had been a door attendant at the Conley Funeral Home. He was a Social Member of Thorny Lea Golf Club, a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church where he was a lector for many years and had formerly been on the Board of Directors of the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Joe also enjoyed time spent in Newport, RI, Cape Cod and the Berkshires.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia A. (Roy) Egan, two daughters Julianne M. Foley of Quincy and Jane E. Egan of Santa Fe, New Mexico and one son Michael J. Egan of Brockton. He was the brother of the late Marian F. Egan and father of the late Thomas J. Egan, Jr.
