Madge was born in Doylestown, Ohio on July 19, 1929. There she attended elementary school and middle school as her father worked making tires at the Firestone Tire and Rubber plant in Akron, Ohio. The Webber’s moved to Anderson, Indiana in the early 40’s where her father Leland and two of his brothers opened three grocery stores. Leland’s store, named Webber’s Market, was located at 25th and Walton Streets between the Belmont Sub-division and Guide Lamp.
Madge attended Anderson High School where she graduated in 1947. She worked with her parents in the store through her high school years. When her father and uncle, Steward Webber, started the Belmont Bible Church at West 29th and Walton Streets, Madge became the church organist and played for the church’s “Pathways to Glory” radio broadcast from the 1940’s until the broadcast ended in the early 70’s.
Madge met Jack N Castor not long after moving to Anderson. They were married on August 15, 1946 after Jack returned from his service with the US Navy in the Philippines. The Castor’s moved from their first home in North Manchester to Anderson where Jack worked at various jobs in his father’s metal fabrication shop, O.N. Castor and Sons and Willy’s Overland Motors until he joined the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
Madge and Jack welcomed their first child Linda into their home in 1948. They would live in Chesterfield and welcome their son Thomas Edward in 1954. They moved to Alexandria Pike and welcomed their son Dan in 1960. The family would move to Melody Lane in Norwood Hills where Madge lived until 2013. During her time in Anderson, she attended Belmont Bible Church, Faith Baptist and Calvary Baptist where she was an active participant and organist. Madge attended Greenwood Bible Baptist Church after moving to Greenwood and later moved to Greenwood Village South in 2018.
Madge trusted Christ at an early age and throughout her life, taught Sunday School, was active in Vacation Bible Schools, AWANAS, teaching music lessons, women’s Bible studies and women’s missionary groups.
Madge was an active participant in the L.I.F.E. Organ group hosted by Music Today in Anderson even after she moved to Greenwood.
