Lavada Mathis Hogan, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Hogan was born October 11, 1934, in Tift County, Georgia, to the late J.B. & Maude Coker Mathis. She lived in Ocala, Florida and worked for Morrison’s Cafeteria. After moving to Fitzgerald in 1968, she worked 14 ½ years for Modern Industries and was a bus driver. She loved eating at the Huddle House and was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Hogan was of the Holiness Baptist faith.
She is survived by her two sons: Wayne & Donna Hogan of Cordele and Lacy Hogan of Fitzgerald; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Wayne Fletcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Robert Hogan; a special friend, Clinton Mauldin; and two sons: Johnny Carroll and Travis Van Hogan; two daughters: Linda Stegall and Karen Bongers; and a brother, Johnie Lee Mathis.
