Richard Charles Fratus, age 88 of Abington, formerly of Dorchester passed away surrounded by loving family on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Margaret (Crosby) Meg Fratus, loving father of Richard Fratus (deceased) and his wife Jean of Florida, Mark Fratus and his wife Basia of East Bridgewater, Janet Logan and her husband Jim of Abington and Joe Fratus and his wife Cherie of Duxbury. Brother to Robert Fratus and Joseph Fratus (deceased). Beloved grandfather “pop” to Rick, Bob and Jason Fratus, Chris and Matt Fratus, Jessica Logan and Jillian Crowley and her husband Shane, Joey (deceased) and Julia Fratus. Great grandfather to William and Andrew Fratus, Robert, Patrick and Elizabeth Fratus, Jason and Cayden Fratus, Jocelyn and Avery Supitkowsky, and Patrick and Connor Crowley.
Pop was a die-hard Bruins fan and went to many games as a young man and later in life with Joe in “the luxury box” as he would call it. He loved the pre-Christmas “Keno” parties with his kids and then his grandkids. Richard worked at Gillette for 27 years where he had many friends. He loved his time vacationing in the Bahamas and Florida with his wife Meg. He was a regular (the mayor) at Dunkin Donuts (Dunks) in Abington. Funeral arrangements are in the care of C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located in Weymouth, MA and will be private in honor of Richard’s wishes. He will be buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery located in Abington, MA.
