Obituary

WEBSTER – Alice B. (Mitchell) Knych, 87, a resident of Lanessa Extended Care Facility, died there Friday, April 7, after a long illness.

She was born in Whitinsville, a daughter of Andrew and Julia (Gac) Mitchell and attended Sutton High School. In 1939, she married Joseph J. Knych of Webster and moved to Northbridge, where she was employed at the Paul Whitin Mfg. Co.

From 1946 to 1972, she and her husband operated the Klondike Inn in South Grafton, where she managed the restaurant’s food services.

In 1972, she and her husband moved to Falmouth where she was employed as a snack bar manager at Angelo’s Super Market for ten years, retiring in 1982. She spent nearly 20 years living in Lake Worth, FL and Falmouth where she was able to enjoy knitting and flower gardening. In 2001, she and her husband moved to Webster.

She leaves her husband of 66 years as well as son, Joseph A. Knych and his wife Carolyn of Albany, NY; two granddaughters, Laurie A. Knych of Schenectady, NY and Lisa M. Hogan and her husband Paul of Cohoes, NY; and a beloved great grandson, Ryan J. Hogan of Cohoes. She also leaves two sisters, Helen Boutiette of South Grafton and Jennie Nivala of Sutton; a brother, Michael Fedorczuk of Upton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 11, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:45 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 10, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to either St. Joseph Basilica Renovation Debt Fund, 53 Whitcomb St., or to Lanessa Extended Care Facility, 751 School St., both Webster, MA 01570
