James Franklin Griffin, 69, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, September 11, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church in Ben Hill County, Georgia, with the Rev. Neil Bridges, the Rev. Vernon Hughes, and the Rev. Jody Silvers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald. Additionally, Mr. Griffin will lie-in-state one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Mr. Griffin was born March 14, 1952, in Big Lake, Texas. He was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lovering. He was a mechanic and worked in automotive sales. He was a hard worker and loved to work in his yards. Mr. Griffin loved his family dearly and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoAnn Wells Griffin of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Jason Griffin & Dannielle of Fitzgerald and Jennifer Griffin Franklin & Nelson of Commerce; grandchildren: Haley Griffin, Weston Franklin, Parker Griffin, Peyton Griffin, Carter Franklin, and Pearce Franklin; a sister, Patricia Newstead & Dave of Florida; and a brother, Lonnie Griffin & Libby of Bradenton, Florida.
