Obituary

Harold E. Killam, a permanant Deacon at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield for over 30 years, and a 56 year resident of Melrose, died at McFadden Memorial Manor in Malden on Sunday April 9, 2006 after a long illness. He was 83 years old.

Harold was born in Bangor, Maine on November 24, 1922. He grew up there and attended schools there. He graduated from Tufts University and Columbia University in New York. He enlisted into the United States Navy on July 1, 1943 and served during World War 2. He was discharged on March 21, 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. Following his discharge he became a chemical engineer and started his own company, Continental Chemical and Coatings Corporation.He was past President of Holy Name Society of Boston and a member of the Holy Name Society of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. While a Deacon at Most Blessed Sacrament Church he had the spiritual pleasure as a lay person of baptising all his grandchildren and most of his great-grandchildren. He was chaplain of the Billerica House of Correction and Cambridge Middlesex Jail.

Harold is the beloved husband of Blanche T. (Gauthier) Killam. He is the devoted father of Simone D. Cannata and her husband Joseph of Londonderry, N.H., Maxine R. Gilvey and her husband Rodney of Apex, N.C., Celeste A. Moulton and her husband Paul of Londonderry, N.H. and Denise A. Smith and her husband Hugh of Melrose. He is the loving "Papa" to Nicole, Scott, Jason, David, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica, Patricia, Francine, Brent, April, Lydia, Pamela, his great-grandchildren, Alex, Chase, Cody, Michael, Kylie, Jillyan, Cassandra, Abigail, Kiana and Christina.

Deacon Harold's Funeral will be held on Wednesday April 12, 2006 from the Carr Funeral Home 1159 Main St. Melrose at 9 am. followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Deacon Harold will be held on Tuesday April 11, 2006 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will take place at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
