Charles Edward Townsend (known as “Doc” by many of his friends and family) went to be with God on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Pinetta Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia.
Charles was born August 16, 1965 in Macon GA. Charles was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and sitting around a fire telling stories. He loved being out in the country and particularly South Georgia where his mother and father were born and raised. He loved going to “South Georgia” to visit with relatives and liked doing a little fishing while he was there. He loved animals from an early age and had many pets throughout his life. Taking care of his pets was very important to him. He had hundreds of hunting and fishing stories.
Charles followed in his father’s footsteps as a locksmith. His early years as a locksmith were with Golden Key Locksmith in Macon alongside his father and brother. He worked daily for the past 22 years alongside his brother to build their company, Mid State Lock & Safe, Inc.
Charles was primarily known as a highly devoted caretaker. He dedicated every day to working hard to provide for his son, daughter, wife, and mother. He would work from sunup to way past sundown to provide for everyone around him. He still worked with this intensity for the last 5 years after receiving a diagnosis of Dermatomyositis. This disease made every day tough for him, but he pushed through and made the best of things. He spent every day doing good for his family, friends, and customers. He had many friends that were like family. He loved them like family and that love was reciprocated by them.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Denise Townsend of Lizella; a son, Charlie Townsend of Lizella; a daughter, Coleen Townsend of Byron; his mother, Lenora Jane Fletcher Townsend of Byron; a brother, Walt & Lara Townsend of Warner Robins; and a sister, Mary Townsend of Byron. He was preceded in death by his father, Tiney Elbert Townsend.
Charles (Doc) will be missed terribly by all his friends and family and at the same time we are at peace knowing he is in God’s hands.
