Ernest Severino, Jr., 94, of New Bedford, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Mary Frances Severino "Franny".
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Ernesto and Caroline Rapoza Severino, he lived here all of his life. Ernie served honorably and proudly in World War II with the U.S. Navy. His hobbies included golfing, boating, singing and playing cards with his family. Ernie was a master entertainer, proudly winning the "Voice of the Ocean" with Princess Cruises. He enjoyed spending quality time with his friends and family, and traveling.
Among his many occupations, Ernie enjoyed working at the Brooklawn Council on Aging until the ripe age of 93. He was an extraordinary man and loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survivors include his wife; his children, a son in Florida, a daughter, Jane M. Jacobsen and her husband Jack of Dartmouth; his step-children, James Goulart and his wife Nancy, Robert Goulart and his wife Maura, Richard Goulart and his wife Debra, and Deborah Goulart; a brother, James Severino; two grandchildren, Tammi and Darren; and several step-grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Lillian Eberstein and Natalie Gouveia.

His memorial visitation will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5 to 8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, MA. Masks and social distancing will be required at the services. Capacity in the funeral home will be limited. All are invited to his Funeral Mass to be held at St. Mary's Church, 795 Dartmouth Street, South Dartmouth, MA on Wednesday at 9:30 AM. A private urn burial will follow.
