Shameka Phoenix (49) of Brockton died September 8th in the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Brighton.
She was born in Boston daughter of James Yarbough of North Carolina and Barbara A. (Phoenix) Gary of Brockton. Shameka worked in the customer service industry and was a member of the House of Prayer #5 Apostolic Church of God. She enjoyed decorating her home, finding recipes and never using them, watching food shows, Chinese food, flowers, dancing and bright colors. Shameka also was known as a good listener, had a beautiful laugh, dressing up and doing her make up.
In addition to her parents she is survived by 5 sons, Zacchaeus and Malachis Phoenix both of Fall River, Noah, Paul and Joshua Mitchell all of Brockton, a daughter Shakinah Glori Shelby-Phoenix of Brockton, 5 brothers, Joaquin Phoenix and Israel Barber both of Brockton, Kason Smith of Uxbridge, James Yarbough Jr. and Joseph Yarbough, 2 sisters, Vernae Barber of Brockton and Versha Barber of Dorchester, her boyfriend Paul Mitchell and 4 grandchildren.
Following Cremation, a Memorial Service will take place at the Bridgewater Vets Club, 85 Cottage Street Bridgewater at a later date.
