Peter John Masaitis of Bridgewater passed away at home on September 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. His battle with cancer demonstrated his strength and courage when facing the challenges life throws at us.
Born in Boston on November 6, 1941 to Gertrude (Gindwenas) and Peter A. Masaitis, he graduated from Brockton High in 1959. He was proud to have been inducted into the Brockton High School Athletic Hall of Fame. After graduation, Peter continued his education at Wentworth Institute and for many years he worked as a clinical laboratory technician at Brockton Hospital.
Peter was known for lighting up a room with his smile, well-timed jokes and all-star dance moves. Peter found the greatest joy in spending time with his family and close friends. His hobbies also included cooking, gardening, golfing, and card games.
Peter is survived by his wife Marie (Higgins) Masaitis; his daughter and son-in-law Kendra and Richard Parks of Bridgewater; his son and daughter-in-law Paul Joseph and Alicia Masaitis of Abington; his grandchildren Caroline Condon, Lauren Condon, Kerry Parks, Matthew Parks and Joseph Herrick; and his great-grandchildren J.P. and Jason Herrick .Peter also leaves his sister Gail Venuti of Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews including his caregiver Kimberly Brakken. Peter was predeceased by his two brothers David and John Masaitis.
Visitation will be held at Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street, Brockton on September 17, 2021 from 9-11 am followed by a burial service at Mount Prospect Cemetery in Bridgewater. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life following the burial at Barrett’s Alehouse in Bridgewater.
