Lorraine E. DiVasta (Bernicchi) of Somerville passed away on September 7, 2021. She was 96 years old. Lorraine was the beloved wife of 72 years to the late Joseph P. DiVasta. Born in Somerville, she was the cherished daughter of the late Francesco and Annita (Padovani) Bernicchi.
Lorraine and her husband “Glen” were known for their dancing expertise and were often the center of attention on the dance floor. “Lorry” was known for her cooking and baking skills, pasta making and family dinners. Lorry and Glen were lifelong Somerville residents and Lorry stayed in her home until the end.
Lorraine was the devoted mother Corinne Janetakos and her husband Charles “Dino” of Boynton Beach, FL, Jeanne DiVasta of Chelsea and the late Paul J. DiVasta and his surviving wife Renee of Atkinson, NH. She was the adored grandmother of Brian DiVasta of Ashland, Melanie DiVasta of Boston, Christi DiVasta of Atkinson, NH, Michael Janetakos of Reading, Amanda Janetakos of Norton, Laura Calvo of Windham, NH, and loving great-grandmother of James DiVasta of Atkinson, NH, Anthony Calvo, Christopher Calvo, and Adriana Calvo of Windham, NH., and Alexis DiVasta Sydney DiVasta and Nicholas DiVasta all of Mansfield. Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings, the late Beatrice Roberts, Lena Medeiros, Corinne Manfra, Alice Bretta, Gus Bernicchi and Louis Bernicchi.
A visiting hour for Lorraine will be held on Saturday, September 11, from 10-11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church 2254 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge, MA., followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 11AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Services will conclude with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Arlington.
