Obituary

SALEM,MA - Duncan Rodger McInnes, 69, husband of Julia “Judy” (Allen) McInnes of Salem, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2006, surrounded by his family.

Born in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Randall) McInnes. He was a resident of Salem since 1968.

He attended Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH, Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, and Nichols College in Dudley, Ma where he received his degree in Business Administration.

Prior to his retirement in the early 1990's, he was employed for over 25 years in the office of GTE Sylvania, at the corporate headquarters on Endicott Street in Danvers.

Duncan was am incredible sportsman who excelled in sailing and racing in Lightning Class, in white water kayaking taught wind surfing for many years. He also enjoyed stunt kite flying and was a member of Kites Over New England, (KONE) and the American Kiting Association (AKA).

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Marie McInnes of Beverly, one daughter and her companion, Mary McInnes and Robert Walters of Milford, NH, 4 grandchildren, Andrea, Lauren & Cameron McInnes of Beverly, John Robert Walters of Milford, NH, one sister, and brother-in-law, Susan & Rene Sorel of Champigny, France and Falmouth, Maine, his mother-in-law, Mary Allen of Peabody, two sisters-in-law, Barbara McInnes of Cumberland Foreside, Maine, Nancy and her husband Dirk Giesberger of Andover, 3 nephews, Pierre Sorel, John and Geordie McInnes, one niece Sally McInnes, several cousins and his beloved dog, Cocoa. He was predeceased by one brother, John McInnes.

He will be remembered as a spirited and loving husband, dad, brother and grandfather.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 11 AM at the Tabernacle Congregational Church, UCC, 50 Washington St., corner of Federal, Salem. (www.tabernaclechurch.org) Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. Assistance provided by the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, or the Hospice of The North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
