Victor M. Fonseca, age 80, of Brockton, died unexpectedly on September 6, 2021 at the Brockton Hospital. Victor was the loving husband for 59 years of Cidalia M. “Cindy” (Gago da Camara) Fonseca. Born, raised and educated in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal he immigrated to the United States in 1960 and settled in Brockton. During Vietnam, Victor served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
For many years Victor worked at Ark-Les Corporation in Stoughton and retired as a Quality Assurance Inspector in 2006. He was an active member of the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society in Bridgewater and a longtime communicant of St. Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater.
Victor enjoyed taking vacations in the sun where he could swim in the ocean and relax on the beach.
In addition to his wife Cidalia, he is survived by his daughter Helen M. Fonseca of Taunton and a grandson Trevor S. Lewis. He was the brother of Carlos M. Fonseca of Germany and the late Maria Cassidy. Victor was the brother in law of Victor and Maria Carreiro and godfather of Sandra Nicholson. He is also survived by his nieces Simone Fonseca, Patricia, Kristin and Kimberly Cassidy and Ashley O'Neill.
Visitation will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday, September 12, from 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 10am for a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater, at 11am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
