Carol A. (Azevedo) Monteiro, 52, of New Bedford died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Rafael and Mary (DaLomba) Azevedo, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a member of New Life South Coast.
Carol was formerly employed as a private duty Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. She was also a long-time foster mother for JRI Foster Care and Adoption.
She enjoyed swimming in her pool, shopping, going out to eat, cooking, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her granddaughter.
Carol is survived by two daughters, Erica Lopez and Kassandra Monteiro; two fosterchildren, Nathalia Handley and Dakota Bussey; her brother, Manuel Azevedo; three sisters, Elizabeth Azevedo, Sarah Gonsalves, and Sandra Doyle; her granddaughter, Aniyah Azevedo-Williams; her former husband, Carlos Monteiro; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Azevedo.
Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 9:30 AM at New Life South Coast, 1331 Cove Road, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Church from 8:30-9:30 AM, prior to the service. For online guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
