CHICOPEE – Anthony P. “Tony” Grzelak, 57, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, September 6, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life peacefully at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on February 9, 1964, a beloved son of the late Edward G. Grzelak who was Called Home on March 14, 2006 and the late Shirley (Boyle) Grzelak who was Called Home on July 18, 2019. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1982 and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Falklands War and attained the rank of Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Petty Officer Third Class. He was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337 and a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, both in Chicopee. He was employed as a machinist for U.S. Tsubaki in Holyoke. He leaves his six loving siblings, Edward J. Grzelak and his wife, Marjorie “Robin” Grzelak, of Chicopee, Daniel J. Grzelak of Chicopee, James M. Grzelak and his wife, Donna, of Southwick, Theresa L. Grzelak of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Frederick D. Grzelak of Chicopee and Thomas J. Grzelak and his wife, Nancy, of Westfield; his cherished nephews and nieces, Matthew Grzelak and his wife, Alyssa, Zachary Grzelak and his wife, Amanda, Stephanie Hurley, Crystal Grzelak and her partner, Ryan, Daniel Grzelak and his partner, Rob, Emily Grzelak, James Grzelak, Rachel Grzelak and her fiancé, Mitchell, Jeremy Pasterczyk, Kirsten DeLeon and her husband, Shane, Thomas Piskorski, Samantha Grzelak and her fiancé, Jared, Bryanna Grzelak, twins Joel and Peter Grzelak and Wilson Grzelak; his many cherished grandnephews and grandnieces; his cherished great grandniece; his dear aunts and uncles, Louise and Brad Pokorny and Dan and Diane Boyle, all of Wisconsin; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear nephew and godson, Austin Frederick Grzelak who was Called Home on March 16, 2019. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
