HIRAM- Gloria Wood Paro, age 84, passed away on Sept. 5, 2021 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1937, in Springfield, MA, daughter of the late Milton Wood Stoughton and Alice Smith Blickens.
After graduating from Commerce High School in Springfield, MA, she went on to be a waitress at numerous restaurants. She was also employed by WMAS in Springfield and WLOB in Portland after she moved to Maine.
Gloria was very dedicated to her community. She volunteered at the Town of Hiram voting polls, the Hiram Fourth of July Parade, the Ossipee Valley Fair and Parade, the Hiram Community Center, Hiram Fire Department, local Crime Watch, Bicentennial Committee, and the food pantry. She was a recipient of the Hubert Clemons Award and the 2019 Spirit of America Award for Oxford County.
She enjoyed tractor pulling, bookkeeping, reading and antique shopping.
She is predeceased by an infant son- Dante Mutti Jr; and a sister- Sandra Bremser.
Gloria is survived by her beloved husband- David W. Paro; children- Linda Montagna and her husband Albert of MA, Michael Mutti and his wife Debra of MA, Gary Mutti and his wife Colleen of MA, Lisa Blake of VA, Davey Paro of NY, Robbie Paro and his wife Terry of MA, and Timothy Paro of MA; sister- Susan Anderson of MA; seventeen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren with one expected on the way.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at a later date.
