Obituary



Worcester – Doris C. Holmberg, 91, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the Oasis at Dodge Park.

Doris was born in Worcester, daughter of the late John L. and Pauline L. (Hope) Holmberg and is also predeceased by a niece, Pamela Holmberg, as well as her sister-in-law, M Blanche (Provost) Holmberg. She is survived by her brother, John L. Holmberg Jr. of Auburn; her six loving nieces and nephews, Jeanne Simeone and her husband, Joseph, Susan Auger, Christine Arsenault and her husband, Yvon, John Holmberg and his wife, Pamela, Robert Holmberg and Mark Holmberg and his wife, Maxine. Doris is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews.

She worked her entire career at the Norton – Saint-Gobain Company, retiring in 1986. Doris belonged to of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She was a skilled photographer and would often have her work entered into various contests.

Doris enjoyed line dancing and painting to name just a few things, but she took great enjoyment in sewing and making clothes for her family. She loved to spend time with her extended family and made a point to host Christmas Dinner every year at her home. She was a collector of things at heart and always had an abundance of costume jewelry and nick knacks around her home. Doris always looked forward to traveling, whether it be close to home in the United States or internationally.

The family would like to express deep appreciation to the staff at The Oasis at Dodge Park, where Doris was a resident since 2019, for the outstanding care provided to Doris.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 11, at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church 23 Fales St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A quiet and respectful visitation in accordance with COVID-19 regulations will be held from 9:30 until 10:15 in the church before the funeral.

Doris cherished her cats and as one last show of love, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League 139 Holden Street Worcester, MA 01606.
