Marion J. (Harrington) Gill of Winthrop passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 4, 2021. She was 91 years old. Marion was the beloved wife of 67 years to Norman E. Gill. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Dearing) and James Harrington.
Marion was a graduate of Winthrop High School Class of 49. After graduation, she went to work for the New England Telephone Company as a Switch Board Operator retiring to raise her family. In later years, she went back to work for the law office Barron and Statfeld LTD in Boston before retiring to Cape Cod with her husband Norman.
Marion was the loving mother to Nancy Weise of Winthrop, Janet Gill Campbell and her husband Michael of Swampscott, Susan Evans and her husband Charles of Winthrop, Julie Haskell and her husband Leo of Winthrop and Amy O’Keefe and her husband Michael of Winthrop. She was the cherished grandmother of Scott, Jennifer, Susan, Matthew, Abigail, Leo, Christopher, Patrick, Colleen, Carly and Caroline and great-grandmother to Charlotte. Marion was the dear sister of the late Al Arnold and Joan Culliton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visiting hour will be held in St. Michael the Archangel Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop on Saturday, September 11, from 10:30-11:30AM followed by a funeral Mass beginning at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter 347 Highland Ave. Salem, MA. 01970.
