Carol A. (Michaud) Duarte, 60, of New Bedford died Saturday April 8, 2006 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of August "Gus" Duarte.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Leo and Loretta (O'Brien) Michaud, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Duarte was formerly employed as a certified nursing assistant for Comprehensive Mental Health Systems until her illness. She had also been a cafeteria worker for the New Bedford School Department.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Edward Michaud and his fiancee Melissa of New Bedford; three daughters, Loretta DeRocco and her husband Robert, Bernadette Sylvia and her companion Angel, and Jody Roberts and her husband Anthony, all of New Bedford; two stepsons, Daniel Duarte and hus wife Elizabeth and Kevin Duarte, all of New Bedford; a sister, Maureen Davis, and her husband Frank, of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, Raylene, Whitney, Jaryn, Jeffrey, Shayna, Elijah, David, Derek, Monea, and Milan; four great-grandchildren, Kevin, Jayden, Jahlia, and Nevaeh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 12, 2006 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday April 11, 2006 from 5-9 PM.
