Richard A. “Rich” Leitch, Jr., age 61, of Norton, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, following a five-year battle with cancer. Rich died peacefully at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence, RI surrounded by his wife, Kim (Hanna) Leitch and two sons, Ryan P. Leitch and Kyle B. Leitch.
Rich was born in Stoughton, MA on September 2, 1960, the son of Dorothy K. Leitch and the late Richard A. Leitch, Sr.
Rich was a devoted and loving father to his two sons and proudly served as a firefighter on the Franklin Fire Department for 23 years. Rich enjoyed spending time with friends and family, good food, fishing, gardening and following the financial markets. He was a life-long Boston sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and coaching his son’s baseball teams.
In addition to his wife and sons, survivors include his mother, Dorothy K. Leitch of Norton, a sister, Deborah A. Leitch and her companion D.E. Shilo Frampton of Merrimack, New Hampshire, an aunt, Sally A. Leitch of West Bridgewater and an uncle and aunt, Theodore and Caroline Kozec of East Longmeadow and cousins, Michael Kozec of Oregon and Karen Signor of Connecticut.
Rich is also survived by his brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews, Stephen and his wife Cynthia of the Villages, FL, their son Brendan and wife Melanie of Somerset and children Caitlyn and Cole, Greg and his wife Maria of Lakeville and children Adam, Lauren and Alex, Sheila Walker and her husband Tim of Salem, Lori of Taunton and her daughter Amanda Lubcher and her husband Frank and their daughter Riley of Sykesville, Maryland. He also leaves his dear friend Chico Barros who has been a great source of support.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, September 11th from 10:00 A.M-12:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Saturday at12:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Newland Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flowers, as a tribute to Rich’s memory and with thanks for all they do, donations to the Franklin Fire Department, 40 West Central Street, Franklin, MA 02038 are welcomed.
