Lilly (Steiner) McCann, 86, died peacefully on September 3, 2021. Lilly was born in Alexandrovca, Yugoslavia, to German parents and moved to Munich, Germany, at the age of five. Lilly married Lenden McCann and had her first-born daughter in Stuttgart, Germany, before moving to Anderson, Indiana, in April, 1958. Lilly obtained her United States citizenship in 1965.
Lilly spent her professional career as a hairstylist, was in the first Hospice volunteer group at St. John’s Hospital, assisted with elementary school Christian education, and was an active member of the North Anderson Free Methodist Church working in Missions, CYC, and a multitude of outreach programs. Lilly was known for baking decadent desserts, spending time with her large family, and walking both competitively and recreationally.
Lilly was predeceased by her parents, Karl & Sophie Steiner, and several brothers and sisters.
Lilly is survived by her daughters Patricia (Jeff) Burkhardt and Christina McCann, grandchildren Patrick Burkhardt, Katie (Adam) Deal, and Megan Burkhardt, and great-grandchildren Logan Burkhardt and Matilda Deal. Lilly is also survived by family in Europe including sisters Steffi, Erika (Kurt), Herta, Helga, Annemarie (Alfred), brothers Viktor and Leopold, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2 PM at Rozelle- Johnson Funeral Service.
