Velma Cornelius Mitchell, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, September 3, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Ricky Kellum officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Mitchell was born August 9, 1958, in Bartow, Florida, to the late James Ed & Velma Lee Mitchell. She lived in the community and was a self-employed caretaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Michelle Cleghorn of Fitzgerald; a grandchild, Conner Cleghorn; a sister, Retha Lynn Cotton & Ricky of Winter Haven, Florida and a brother, James Ed Mitchell, III. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Gail Finley, Mary Lou Spires and Brenda Reaves.
