Francis Patrick McGuigan, Frank, of Westport, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the age of 70 following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of his childhood friend, Brooke (Workman) McGuigan. Born in Fall River on January 6, 1951, Frank was the son of the late Elizabeth (Urban) McGuigan and the late Francis T. McGuigan.
Along with his wife, Frank leaves his son Jacob McGuigan and his wife Elizabeth McGuigan of Westport; his sister Patricia Connolly; sisters-in-law Pamela R. Ahlander and husband Thorston Ahlander; Lindsey D. MacCuaig and husband Rod MacCuaig; brother-in-law Rush Lee Workman and wife Mary Workman along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his dear sister Elizabeth Shiller.
A proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1972) and a Masters of Business Administration graduate of Boston University, Frank was an avid supporter of the Fighting Irish and a former collegiate rower. Prior to his retirement, Frank worked for many years for ExxonMobil before starting his own successful business and settling permanently in Westport. For the last nearly 40 years, Frank and his wife have owned Bakers Beach in Westport. His long-standing love of the beach and the members was felt by all, including the piping plovers he carefully guarded each spring. Frank was a long-standing supporter of the community. Whether it was supporting local little league and youth basketball teams, St. John the Baptist Church, or the Westport Police, Frank believed in giving back to his long-time home. His quiet kindness, devotion to his family and community and strength of character will be missed by many.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Potter Funeral Home from 10-11 A.M.
Funeral service and interment will be private.
