SOUTH DARTMOUTH … Louis Machado, 72, of South Dartmouth passed away, Monday, August 30, 2021, at home surrounded by family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Louis was born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel A. and Eva (Mizher) Machado and had lived in South Dartmouth since 1990. He was a 1966 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, and was a 1970 graduate of SMTI with his BA in History. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for six years and separated honorably as a Lieutenant. He then earned his MBA from Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1979. Louis worked at New England Life from 1980 until he retired in 2005 as a Vice President of IT.
Louis was Past Master of the Masonic Temple Mount Hope Lodge A.F. and A.M. from 1982 – 1983. He was a member of the Wharf Rats of Padanaram. He was an avid world traveler.
Louis was a lifelong member and supporter of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Fall River.
Survivors include a brother, Paul Machado and his wife, Catharine Scott of Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by his cousin, Monica Medeiros his fellow traveler, cook and right hand person, Jeannine Fortin, cousin and fellow casino partner, Myra Davis a cousin and his strong spiritual supporter, his niece, Stacy Eva Machado, nephew, Lucas Scott Machado as well as several cousins and family members.
Celebration of life will take place on Friday, September 24th from 6-8 at South Coast Funeral Home on 1555 Pleasant Street in Fall River, MA. Church service on Saturday, September 25th at 11 AM at the Calvary United Presbyterian Church on 216 Harrison Street, Fall River, MA.
In lieu of flowers, Lou wished that all contributions be made to Calvary United Presbyterian Church.
